Building capacity in the participating countries to collect market outlook information and improve the quality of the data in terms of timeliness, coherence and completeness is a fundamental component of AMIS. The programme for capacity development is based on a dense research plan, developed with the aim of defining best practices and methodologies for agricultural market data collection and analyses.
In particular, one of the component of the AMIS project “Strengthening Agricultural Market Information Systems Globally and in Selected Countries using innovative methods and digital technology” – funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – consists in developing improved methodologies for
- Market price data collection, dissemination and analysis;
- Crop production and yield forecasting;
- Stocks measurement and estimation.
The selection of these research topics is the result of an assessment of existing gaps and limitation in market data collection, analysis and dissemination methodologies and practices.
