New study: Crop yield forecasting
A new study reviews good practices in producing crop forecasts, based on country case studies conducted in Belgium, China, Morocco, South Africa and the United States. The publication, which has been produced in collaboration with the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics, highlights the human, institutional, technical and financial infrastructure needed to produce good forecasts. By describing the functioning of diverse institutional set-ups the study aims to provide guidance for improving national forecasting systems for more effective policy design and market operation.
