Damir Zhaksylykov, national focal point of Kazakhstan to AMIS, successfully completed a training on grain market analysis today, 20 November 2015. The one-month training was delivered under an FAO-EBRD project on "Enhancing Grain Market Transparency in Kazakhstan", in the framework of the AMIS Exchange Programme. Among other things, the training covered following areas:

• composition of grain supply and demand balances
• identification of the National Marketing Year
• aggregation of data at global level
• generation of market forecasts.

In his final presentation to the AMIS Secretariat, Damir put into practice his new knowlege by constructing Kazakhstan’s grain balances forecasts for 2015/16 according to AMIS standards and improving the definition of the National Marketing Year for wheat. The AMIS Secretariat looks forward to working with Damir in the future and continuing the good collaboration that started with this training programme.
