Re-launched: AMIS Policy Database

19 Jul 2022

Policies have an important bearing on global food markets. A new online resource will help you keep abreast of latest policy developments in the principal trading countries of agricultural commodities. The AMIS Policy Database, re-launched today using a new technical platform and advanced visualization tools, provides information on trade and domestic policies that are likely to impact on the prices, trade and production of the four AMIS crops (wheat, maize, rice and soybeans).

The AMIS Policy Database integrates policy information of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). It allows you to (i) compare trade and domestic policy information across commodities and across the 28 AMIS countries and (ii) track the evolution of a specific policy on a specific commodity in a selected country over time.

That database was compiled following a rigorous harmonization process of OECD and WTO information and integrated into a new comprehensive database structure:

  1. The dataset on export restrictions is an original dataset developed by the OECD for AMIS. It gathers information from official legal documents, government websites and other reliable sources.
  2. The dataset on import tariffs and tariff quotas is based on WTO Members’ annual notifications
  3. The dataset on producer and consumer support originates from OECD’s Producer and Consumer Support Estimates database.
