Closing the capacity building project on "Improving Rice Market Statistics in Thailand and the Philippines", this workshop discussed experiences, findings and recommendations from the past two years of project implementation. Apart from reaching out to both target countries the workshop also gave an opportunity to share experiences with a larger group of stakeholders, notably national representatives of the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS).

Over the past two years, the project has (i) collected best practices and adjusted these practices to local circumstances; (ii) tested and validated improved methodologies; (iii) prepared guidelines documenting field experiences and explaining the application of improved methodologies; and (iv) trained staff in National Statistical Offices and Ministries of Agriculture in accessing and applying improved methodologies, and addressing specific technical and methodological gaps.
