AMIS’ Support responds to Priority Needs of the Statistical System in Bangladesh
Bangladesh finalized its “In- depth Capacity Assessment to produce Agriculture and Rural Statistics” in June 2014. This assessment was conducted jointly by FAO and its national partners in Bangladesh. The report highlighted three main areas where improvements were required in the short- term:
- Agricultural market information systems
- Further investments in training and capacity building
- Data availability
AMIS’ support proposal to Bangladesh will directly address these three priorities. Both the relevant statistical agencies and the international partners involved in statistics in the country recognized the timeliness of this support. .
While the AMIS project is being finalized and throughout its implementation, further efforts will be put forth to mainstream support in the field of agricultural and rural statistics.
